We don’t really sell homes.
REALTORS aren’t really in the business of selling homes. We are in the communication business. Effectively communicating our clients wants/needs to other parties involved. We need to also listen to what our clients are saying. That sounds pretty easy on the surface but it is not always the case. We need to be able to hear what our clients are saying and once you are out actually showing property, seeing what they really like. Many times I have had clients tell me one thing and before we are done we are where they said they didn’t want to be. Whether it be neighborhood, price range, distance from town, etc.
We need to communicate with our fellow REALTORS, as well as the various vendors that are part of the Real Estate transaction, such as, attorney’s, their paralegals, home inspectors, septic inspectors, repairmen, mortgage lenders, etc. If we do not communicate effectively with all of these people it can make the transaction less than pleasant, and sometimes in extreme cases can cause a deal to die.
For buyers and sellers it is important that you have a REALTOR that communicates effectively with you from the beginning. If there seems to be a lack of understanding on your part ask for clarification. Do not ever assume that you just don’t get it. It’s not that, you just need a better communicator.
